Roselyn Sanchez was born in the Latin American country of Puerto Rico on April 2, 1973. She was the fourth child and has three elder brothers. She did her primary schooling at San Juan. She started her ballet lessons at the age of four and went onto learn piano lessons at the age of six. With such rigorous training she started doing dance programmes and TV commercials at the age of just fifteen.
She was the Co- host for a popular variety show, Que vacilion. She represented her country and won Miss Puerto Rico petite contest and later that year won the miss American Petite as well. She was there in the top 100 sexiest women in all the three major polls of ask men, FHM and Maxim.
Then she decided to move to New York to enable her to progress more easily in her career. But she was very sad to leave her family and quoted that it was the only bad thing about going to New York. Her first role in the American television was that of, Pilar Domingo, in the soap “As the World Turns”. She also performed one-woman show called “out here on my own”. In 1997 she got to do a program called Fame L.A, which showcased all her talents: acting, singing and dancing.
Her big break came in 2002, when she got to play the leading lady opposite Jackie Chan in the smash hit “Rush Hour 2”. She did the role of Isabella Monila, an under cover secret agent. She continued to act with international stars like John Travolta in the film Basic. She also starred in a Spanish film called Angel and a Puerto Rican film called Cayo making her a global celebrity. She is also in the processes of composing, singing, acting and dancing in a semi auto biographical musical, wherein she plays the role of a Latin American who comes to New York with film dreams. She also shot an independent movie “Night stalker” in which she is a detective who stalks a psycho serial killer. Her current projects include “The Perfect Sleep” and “Without a Trance”.
Her musical career as also staring to war up and she came in the video of British singer Craig David, a R&B super star, for the song “Hidden agenda”. She also at same time released her album borinqueria, her first single was "Amor Amor Amor" which generated lot of attention in both media and album sales. It was also nominated for the best video in Grammy for Latin American awards.
She was married to a British boxer turned actor/model Gary Stretch from 1999 t0 2001. Then she dated, Victor manuelle a salsa singer from Latin America but they parted amicably in year 2005. Currently she is dating the California born American actor Eric Winter for more than a year and they are going pretty steady for a while now.
